foundation and others products too. KISS Mineral does not use nano-sized zinc oxide in the formulations.
KISS Mineral Makeup~ Period After Opening (PAO)
The Period After Opening of color cosmetic is an measure of months, after which the cosmetic should be discarded, as its performance may be compromised thereafter by the prolonged exposure to air, and other parasites introduced to the cosmetic product from the day to day use by the consumer.
Pure mineral cosmetics do not carry bacteria, as there are no liquids, waters & oils or other chemicals, to taint the formulation. However, a consumer may at times use the cosmetic against the suggested instructions (eg: by dipping a damp applicator directly into the minerals). Or licking a brush instead of using a primer, as so forth. This, you can’t monitor nor control or measure.
The Period After Opening for all these loose mineral cosmetic powders are technically 36M. However it is more common to reduce this period for safety reasons (listed above).
Cosmetic Periods After Opening:
All loose mineral powders- 36M-18M
Mineral Lipstick- 6M
Mineral Pencils- 6M
Mineral Mascara, Tints- 3M
The Period After Opening is a legal requirement for cosmetics sold in the EU. This information can be depicted by “PAO36M” or more commonly by the Jar symbol followed by the months eg: 36M.

Below are some of the most frequently asked questions about mineral makeup and KISS Mineral Makeup.
Ingredient FAQ
• Are mineral cosmetics natural?
All ingredients used in our formulations are created from natural minerals and mineral pigments that are carefully refined in laboratories to very specific standards set by the FDA and the European Cosmetic Directive. KISS Mineral only pigments that are free of dyes, carmine and other additives. The KISS Mineral Makeup ingredients of titanium dioxide and zinc oxide are pure untreated minerals, KISS Mineral Makeup only choose the purest ingredients available.
• Is mineral makeup Organic?
Actually it’s INORGANIC. Mineral based VS plant or animal based. What this means is that KISS Mineral Makeup is PURE mineral makeup doesn’t require preservatives or pesticides. It’s also naturally chemical free.
• Is titanium dioxide safe?
Yes, it is deemed safe for use in a cosmetic. It is illegal for a cosmetic product to contain ingredients that have not been approved as ‘safe’ by the FDA/ TGA or EU Governing bodies. All our ingredients are FDA Approved.
However, nano sized particles are proven to enter not only the skin, but also the cells as well. We do not know what the implications of this will be 5, 10, or 20 years down the line. Therefore we do not use any nano ingredients.
• Is Iron Oxide Natural?
We use cosmetic grade Iron Oxides, and Natural Earth Ochre Pigments in the manufacturer of our minerals. This is why the product blends has been so well respected.
Again, it cannot be dug out the ground and “crushed” into your jar. It would be very dangerous an illegal to do this. Not to mention would probably shred your skin to pieces! They must be purified to become Cosmetic Grade. First and this process require washing the ingredients with chemicals, to strip away heavy metals. Let’s not get too scientific here- the basic 101 Golden Rule is that some are natural ochres, others are created in a laboratory by synthetic chemical reactions, however as these reactions use Iron- technically they are “derived from minerals”.
• What is micronized?
It’s simple- A particle size. Microns do not enter skin barriers. Nano do. We provide a range of color cosmetic products which are safe and effective when used by consumers in accordance with their intended purpose and their instructions for storage and proper use. These products are manufactured with materials which are 10 microns and higher in size. No nano particles are used in the manufacture of our cosmetics. We believe that nano particles owing to their size can enter freely into the cells and may interfere in cell’s normal function.
Our foremost reason for not using nano particles is that it will introduce a new generation and wave of toxicity testing requirements and these tests are heartlessly conducted on primates and other living species which we find morally and ethically unacceptable and completely unnecessary.
• Do mineral cosmetics work for all skin types?

• HELP! I just got the KISS Mineral Makeup products and I can’t get anything out of the jar?
The KISS Mineral Makeup comes with the seal over the sifter. It’s a clear seal and sometimes is hard to see unless you look closely. If you have already removed the seal, it might be that the product is packed too tightly into the jar. We would like to be sure that you get a generously filled jar, but it can cause the powder to come out slowly the first few uses. If the product is packed tightly, it can be difficult to get out until you have more space below the sifter. The easiest solution is to turn the jar upside down (with the lid on) and give it a solid whack on the counter. This will usually dislodge enough products for one use; and once you have done this several times, the rest of the product will come out easily.
• I switched to your product from a line of mineral cosmetics that contains Bismuth Oxychloride, because it made my skin itch, but now I’m trying yours and I still itch!
Sensitively to Bismuth Oxychloride can cause itching, but it isn’t as common as you might be lead to believe. The actual culprit is more likely to be your brushes. The way you buff and the hygiene of the brush take into consideration too. Buff in circular motion rather than BRUSH direct on the skin, as the brush hair cuticle may cause you the itchiness if you direct BRUSH and created the impact to the skin pores. The KISS Luscious Goat Hair Face Brush is very smooth, with the gentle circular motion you will love the feeling. Nevertheless, in order to take care the hygiene of the brush, it can be wash every 2-3 months. Be aware of the kids sometimes they will play with it and put it back without your knowledge.
Application Tips
If you are new to mineral makeup cosmetics, here is some few tips that will help you to adjust to the process more quickly. Keep these things in mind as you begin your adventure.
Step A: Skin should be prepped.
Apply moisturizer and allow it to fully absorb before you apply KISS Mineral Makeup. If you are used to liquid foundation which already moist the skin, and KISS Mineral Makeup only contain minerals, so if you haven’t used moisturizer before, you must start with it. If you have dry skin, the portion of moisturizer must be more intense.
Step B: Tools can make a difference.
It is essential to start KISS Mineral Makeup with a good brush. Due to the foundation brush will be in much more contact with the skin than any other brush, therefore a good cosmetic brush is important. The KISS luscious high end goat hair is a high end quality of brush; it is very soft and definitely more hygienic as compared to makeup sponge. KISS luscious face brush enhances your look with KISS Mineral Makeup by balancing out your skin tone, reduces blemishes and creating the glow but without the “heavy” feeling on your skin.
Step C: Less Is More!
It is so much easier to add a bit more color than it is to take off too much! Pick up a little color on your brush and then work in to the face brush, which means to swirl or tap the brush in a lid or dish until the product isn’t just sitting at the tip of the brush. Then apply, remembering that even though you can’t see it, there is still product in the brush. Step back, take a look and apply more if you wish.
Extra tips:
KISS Mineral Premium Foundation has 2 in 1 effect, it can conceal your concern areas like dark spots, dark eye circle, acne marks. Apply with KISS Premium cosmetic brush by dapping on the pigmented area until your satisfies level. If you have obvious spot like bruise, pigmentation, freckles etc, KISS Mineral Premium Concealer will be great to conceal the pigmented area. KISS Mineral Premium Concealer- Peach is great to conceal the black spot; Green is great to conceal redness.
If your skin becomes oily throughout the day, try to apply the KISS Mineral Premium Setting Powder (Veil) before the KISS Mineral Premium Foundation, after apply the foundation follow by another layer of KISS Mineral Premium Setting Powder. These steps will help your foundation last for the whole day.
If you find your skin becoming a bit dry during the day, you may need a richer moisturizer. In fact you can create your own tinted moisturizer by mixing a bit of mineral foundation powder with your moisturizer. For the best result, just mix what you need for one application.
